Tips for Planning A Wedding Outdoors

While shuffling through a bunch of real estate notepads and postcards the other day, I happened on an old date, scribbled in red pen on a piece of paper. June 1, 2002. That was the day my long term boyfriend and I tied the note together forever in holy matrimony.

Weddings are a blessed time of fun, adventure and above all else, planning. I still have the just sold postcards we distributed after buying our first home as a couple together. Believe it or not, buying a home was part of our wedding plans.

For many the first steps in wedding planning include deciding whether you will have an indoor or an outdoor wedding. Many people prefer an outdoors wedding especially if their nuptials will happen during the spring or summer. Here are some things you should consider if planning an outdoor wedding.

Outdoor Wedding Planning Considerations Think about the following if planning your wedding outdoors:

* Consider the time of year and your location. Make sure you are likely to have nice weather or at least reasonable weather around the time of your wedding. * As with anything, the weather is unpredictable. Plan to rent a tent or other shelter in case the weather does go bad despite your best planning. * Consider providing guests the option of wearing casual attire to the reception. This often works well for beach weddings or other outdoor events especially during the summer. * When planning for meals, also plan for the weather. Light selections may work best during hot summer days to prevent anyone from feeling overly full or uncomfortable. * Always have a back up plan. Consider having an indoor location just in case things go awry and you can't make it to your outdoor event.
