The unity candle ceremony is a popular step in the wedding in the United States. There is a large pillar candle in the middle of two tapers. There may be an inscription or dedication, or any ornamentation that the couple chooses such as hearts or wedding rings. The newlyweds could hire some musicians to play music to accompany the lighting ceremony. They could also explain the symbolism of the ceremony so more people would understand why it is done.
